ISIUM Conference 28-30 October, 2023: «Improving Use of Medicines: Connecting, Learning, Moving Forward»
ISIUM (International Society to Improve the Use of Medicines) and Faculty of Pharmacy Chiang Mai University together with agencies in Thailand through the National Drug Policy Division Food and Drug Administration Academic Center for Drug System Surveillance and Development (MDCC), Faculty of Pharmacy Mahasarakham University Health Systems Research Institute and Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) and sponsors Therapeutic Guidelines Ltd. Quality Use of Medicine and Pharmacy Research Centre, University of South Australia, Kasem Pangsriwong Foundation and the Health Promotion Foundation S.) are holding an international conference between 28-30 October 2023 at Kantary Hill Hotel, Mueang Chiang Mai District Chiang Mai Province, Thailand
At the opening ceremony the meeting was honored by the Rector Chiang Mai University Professor Dr. Phongrak Sri Bundit Mongkol Welcoming the attendees and Lynn Weekes, Chair of the ISIUM Executive Board, giving opening remarks.
The main theme of the ISIUM 2023 Conference is «Improving Use of Medicines: Connecting, Learning, Moving Forward»
The purpose of organizing this conference is to provide an academic forum for exchanging knowledge and communicating knowledge from research and drive rational use of medicine. In the Conference are participating researchers, academics, and public health personnel and the public sector, 145 people from 25 countries. There are 114 research presentations, both oral, poster and video. In addition, there are network meetings, workshops, and study visits after the conference.
Международная организация ISIUM (International Society to Improve Use of Medicines) проводит конференцию “Люди, улучшающие использование лекарств: что мы знаем и чего мы не знаем” , которая состоится с 26 по 28 января 2020 года в столице Тайланда Бангкоке в партнерстве с Центром системы мониторинга по использованию лекарственных средств Университета Чулалонгкорн и Подкомитета по рациональному применению лекарственных средств Министерства Здравоохранения Тайланда.
Цель конференции — оживить движение за рациональное использование лекарств, поделившись новыми знаниями и опытом о том, как улучшить использование лекарств, и согласовать план будущей работы ISIUM.
Задачи конференции:
Обсудить принципы рационального использования лекарственных средств и терапевтических практик с точки зрения современного уровня знаний и перспектив.
Поделиться опытом в области образования и расширения прав и возможностей людей в улучшении использования лекарственных средств и терапевтических практик.
Изучить, как правительства и другие заинтересованные стороны должны и могли бы быть вовлечены в деятельность по обеспечению безопасного и эффективного использования лекарственных средств, и как они могут быть привлечены к ответственности.
Определить приоритетные области для будущей работы ISIUM по улучшению использования лекарств и их продвижению с акцентом на расширение прав и возможностей людей.
Location & dates
The meeting will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 26th to 28th January 2020.
The meeting will be held in partnership with the Drug System Monitoring and Development Centre (DMDC), Chulalongkorn University, and the Thai RDU Subcommittee of the Thai Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).
Purpose & objectives
The purpose of the meeting is to reinvigorate the movement for rational use of medicines by sharing new knowledge and experiences on how to improve medicines use and to agree on a plan for future ISIUM work. The objectives are:
- To understand rational use of medicines and therapeutic practices in terms of new knowledge and perspectives.
- To share experiences in peoples’ education and empowerment in improving the use of medicines and therapeutic practices.
- To explore what governments and other stakeholders should and could do to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines, and how they may be held to account.
- To define priority areas for future ISIUM work on improving the use of medicines and its promotion, with a focus on people’s empowerment.
Conference organising committee
The conference was organized on behalf of ISIUM by Arturo Quizhpe Peralta (Chair, Ecuador), Natalia Cebotarenco (Moldova), Kathleen Holloway (United Kingdom), Niyada Kiatying-Angsulee (Thailand), Mary Murray (Australia/Sweden) Eva Ombaka (Kenya), Debra Rowett (Australia), and Budiono Santoso (Indonesia). Mary Hemming and Mary Murray are acting as the conference secretariat.
